A while back my WorldWise Jewelry Facebook fans chose to sponsor an individual woman rather than continuing to donate to Women for Women International’s general fund. I found out earlier this year that we’ve been matched with Ange Hana Kaskile who lives in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Ange Hana is 20 years old and is married. She cares for her two young children – a boy and girl.
She has never received a formal education of any kind, making it hard for her to read and write more than her name. Ange Hana is one of the 1.5 million Internally Displaced People of the DRC. She is living in a home with no electricity and the only source of light is the sun. Ange Hana has joined a circle of women who will become her support group as she goes through life changing training.
She will spend the next 11 months learning about economic self-sufficiency, taking classes relating to psychological and physical health, gaining knowledge about her legal rights, and focusing on building leadership skills and techniques for negotiation and conflict management.
